RMRG Turned 60 in 2007!
2007 was the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group's 60th Anniversary! From
our grassroots beginning in 1947 to our sizeable membership and
extensive capabilities in 2007, it's been a great 60 years.
History Collection
Our 60th anniversary has renewed our efforts to collect RMRG history.

60th Anniversary Highlights
Book Release of 'Playing for Real – Stories from
Rocky Mountain Rescue' by member rescuer Mark Scott-Nash and
published by the CMC Press kicked-off 2007. Mark's
tale of both typical rescue scenarios as well as some of the
most dramatic in the Group's history targets a broad audience
beyond just the climbing community. See our Books Page
for ordering information.
RMRG Member 60th Event The event of the year took place in October
at the Avalon in Boulder. We had over 200 in attendance with 24 past
group leaders and 5 RMRG presidents. The event involved plenty of
socializing, a large display of RMRG history, a slide show of our 60
years, and many stories from years past. Check back for photos from
the event.
November featured the tapping of the Mountain
Rescue Ale, a Belgian Dubbel at a Boulder institution, the Walnut
Brewery. Very generous public support made this fundraising affair
a success and a good time for all. RMRG was also named as the
beneficiary of the proceeds of the two-week long sale of the ale.
Check back for photos from the event.
In December, we published the
60th Anniversary Retrospective Issue
(10 pp, 2 MB, PDF) of our community newsletter, The Mountain
Rescue Page. This issue summarizes the highlights of 60 years of
mountain rescue.
